Is SBI Clerk tougher than IBPS Clerk exam?




Who is a Bank Clerk? Generally speaking, he is a “Single Window Operator” who has to perform a variety of daily office duties and tasks in his bank branch office such as keeping transaction records, maintaining ledger etc. IBPS conducts IBPS Clerk exam to recruit clerks while SBI carry out separate competitive exam for the post of clerks in their banks. In this article, we will discuss why SBI Clerk Exam is considered to be tougher than IBPS Clerk exam.

In IBPS Clerk exam, the applicant has to be a graduate in any discipline and should have knowledge of computers with certificate in computer operations. On the other hand, in SBI Clerk exam, the applicant has to be a graduate in any discipline or should have corresponding qualification.
As far as Selection Process is concerned, both IBPS Clerk exams and SBI Clerk exams are conducted in two major stages. These stages are Stage-I and Stage-II where Stage-I is referred to as Prelims and Stage-II is referred to as Mains exam. The selection process of SBI Clerk exam is lengthy, tedious and prolonged as written exam is followed by descriptive test and interview. Furthermore, SBI tests the candidate’s knowledge about local or official language through descriptive test.
It is because SBI is India’s biggest Private Sector Bank and it is expanding extensively. So, the bank authorities make it clear that the appointed clerk should have good communication skills with the customers if he is well versed with the local language. The selection of the candidates is decided by the summation of their performance in all these tests. The candidate appointed by SBI has the facility of being posted anywhere in the country. There is also a big probability of him getting posted in a nearby branch in his hometown. 
On a brighter side, SBI Clerk has great probabilities of getting promoted to Trainee Officer in a span of 3 to 4 years. His job profile is equivalent to the profile of Probationary Officer. In addition, SBI provides more exposure to various bank activities to its clerks than rest of Public Sector Banks. As a result, SBI Clerks has to face more work pressure and load in their respective bank branch. SBI is fast emerging as India’s most techno-savvy banking institution and so it is equipped with advanced gadgets and gizmos which are used in net banking. The duties and responsibilities of SBI Clerk have intensified to a great extent and so do his working hours.   
To cut a long story short, we can conclude that the job of SBI Clerk is for those aspirants who can handle heavy work pressure and have ambitions of earning handsome salary packages with great promotion chances. Therefore, the selection process of SBI Clerk exam is relatively tougher than that of IBPS Clerk exam. On contrary, the job of IBPS Clerk is for those aspirants who demands job security, limited work pressure and decent salary packages and get effective IBPS Clerk Study material.
